On 16 December, Intercontinental Aviation Academy participated in the Women in Aviation – Middle East General Assembly held in Riyadh, demonstrating its support for initiatives that advance women’s education and careers within the aviation sector.

The General Assembly officially commenced with a welcoming address by Ms. Mervat Sultan, President of the Women in Aviation – Middle East Chapter, setting the stage for a day focused on leadership, professional development, and increased representation of women across the aviation industry.

A key highlight of the event was the announcement of the Women in Aviation – Middle East Scholarship Initiative, launched and funded independently by Women in Aviation – Middle East, with a total value exceeding USD 150,000. Intercontinental Aviation Academy serves as the official training academy, providing all academic programs and flight training for the scholarship recipients. In addition, the Full Training ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) program, valued at over USD 130,000 and representing the largest scholarship announced during the General Assembly, was awarded to:

During the ceremony, Mr. Issam Sultan, Global Executive Board Member of Intercontinental Aviation Academy and acting Non-Executive Chairman of FlyIAA UAE, participated alongside Captain Al-Harath Bin Sama. The Academy’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to supporting collaborative initiatives that expand access to high-quality aviation education, while recognizing Women in Aviation – Middle East as the sole initiator and administrator of the scholarship program.

The event concluded with the formal handover of scholarship certificates to Ms. Mervat Sultan on behalf of Women in Aviation – Middle East, followed by an official group photo session.

While the scholarship recipients were unable to attend in person, the announcement highlighted the impact of strong partnerships between advocacy organizations and accredited training institutions.

Through its role as the training academy, Intercontinental Aviation Academy remains committed to supporting programs that help shape the next generation of female aviation professionals, while the scholarship initiative continues to be led and managed entirely by Women in Aviation – Middle East.
